Waste Audit Session
Bring waste learning to life with a facilitated waste audit session at your school or kura. Using the waste audit kit equipment, one of our facilitators leads students through a practical investigation into what is being thrown away, where waste is coming from, and how it could be reduced. Students sort and measure waste streams, record observations, and use the results to identify practical next steps for waste minimisation. The facilitator supports set-up, student roles, safe sorting practices, data collection, and reflection, with the session tailored to suit your class level, learning focus, available time, and school waste systems.

Students may explore factors such as water clarity, flow, temperature, habitat, and stream life, using their findings to build understanding of freshwater ecosystems and the actions that can support healthier waterways. The facilitator supports safe fieldwork, equipment use, data collection, and discussion, with the session tailored to suit your class level, learning focus, available time, and chosen site.
