What we did

This year our site design covered two key themes: Our strategic direction and the importance of resilience in the Waikato region.

Our strategy, Te Pae Tawhiti | Strategic Direction 2026-2036 sets a clear direction for the next decade with a focus on delivery for the period 2026-2029. Our map wall highlighted our diverse regional economy spanning agriculture, advanced manufacturing, technology, renewable energy, aquaculture, tourism, healthcare and forestry.

Building resilience is part of our council’s everyday activities, with environmental, scientific, policy and technical experts working every day managing flood protection infrastructure, generating and making sense of up-to-date data information, protecting and restoring environmental resources, planning transport networks, and so much more.

Our stand was is in its usual spot inside The Pavilion, site PE 36.

  • We had subject-matter experts on site to answer your questions from good on farm management practices and pest control to erosion prevention and planting.
  • Your constituent councillors were there, so you could chat to them about what’s most important to you.
  • Our Primary Industry Engagement team were on site throughout the week to talk about a range of issues relevant to rural audiences, including farm environment planning.
  • Our plant and animal pest team were there to chat about species you need to look out for as well as tools, tips and support to control pest species around your property.
  • Our Public Transport staff were available to provide information related to the Waikato’s bus network and the Te Huia train.
