What we did this year
This year our theme was resilience. Our stand was in its usual spot inside The Pavilion, site PE 36.
- We had subject-matter experts on site to answer your questions from rural compliance and pest control to erosion prevention and planting.
- Your constituent councillors were there, so you could chat to them about what’s most important to you.
- Our Primary Industry Engagement team were on site throughout the week to talk about a range of issues relevant to rural audiences, including farm environment planning.
- Our plant and animal pest team were there to chat about species you need to look out for as well as tools, tips and support to control pest species around your property.
- There was a Catchment and River Management customer feedback survey designed for people who live in the region and with farms larger than 20ha.
- We had ‘Be a detective’ and 'Match the name' games for children.

Careers and Education Trail
Our site was part of the Fieldays ‘Careers and Education Trail’. Students, job seekers and visitors may ask about careers and/or education opportunities related to Waikato Regional Council. It was a good opportunity to help people to realise the breadth and variety of the work we do.

Civil Defence
Our Civil Defence staff were located in the Emergency Services Hub, with information about where you can learn all about how to get ready for a hazard event.

Road Safety
Waikato Regional Council participated in a cross-agency road safety stand which had the theme: "road safety is everyone's responsibility".
The stand was staffed by members of the road safety partner agencies, led by NZTA, but also including New Zealand Police, ACC, MoT and representatives from regional and district councils.
Watch: Opening day wrap up
Just as it is for many others in the ag and hospitality sectors, Fieldays is a big deal for us at Waikato Regional Council.
Months of thinking, planning and organising goes into bringing our site together.
Our Communications and Marketing section works closely with teams across the organisation to create a space where landowners, residents and ratepayers, and industry stakeholders can have meaningful conversations with our people.
Our Chief Executive Chris McLay was onsite for opening day on 2025. Watch and listen to his impressions.
