We currently have a two Summer Student roles available, based in the heart of the North Island – Great Lake Taupō.

The roles will assist the Lake Taupō Catchment Management team with property inspections, programmes and duties related to integrated catchment management activities. Such activities have a focus on building partnerships with landowners, iwi and other stakeholders on projects relating to soil conservation, water quality and bio-diversity protection and enhancement within the Tūwharetoa rohe.

Do you have a passion for our environment with a particular interest in either marine recreation, ecology, or kauri protection? 

This is an opportunity to spend your summer on the Coromandel Peninsula at holiday hotspots including boat ramps, at specific events and at popular walking tracks engaging with different people and making a significant contribution to stopping the spread of pests including kauri disease and exotic Caulerpa.

We’re seeking a student who is currently pursuing or has recently completed a degree in natural, biological, physical, or environmental sciences, or a closely related discipline.

The ideal candidate will have experience in data collation and analysis, conducting ecological surveys, and coordinating or participating in fieldwork activities.

Do you have a passion for our environment with a particular interest in either freshwater recreation, ecology, botany or environmental science? 

This is an opportunity to spend your summer at recreational hotspots including boat ramps, at specific events engaging with different people and making a significant contribution to stopping the spread of freshwater pests including invasive freshwater clams (gold clams).  You will also have the opportunity to undertake pest surveys, on land and on water.

We are seeking a Waikato Tainui Iwi affiliated student/intern who has an interest in environmental management to work with our Hamilton based Catchment Management team for up to 15 weeks over the summer months.

The Catchment Management team focus on building partnerships with landowners and stakeholders on projects relating to soil conservation, water quality and biodiversity protection and enhancement.
