We are experiencing higher volumes of enquiries at the moment related to successive significant rainfall events in January and February. We are working hard to reply to these enquiries while at the same time planning and undertaking work to remove debris dams and blockages, and remediate impacted areas.

About this report

The Biodiversity Annual Report summarises the non-regulatory biodiversity-related work completed by Waikato Regional Council during the 2024/25 year.

This is the first report that brings together the council’s biodiversity work across multiple directorates. In future, we aim to include additional content and metrics, such as information on coastal biodiversity work, biodiversity outcomes achieved through resource consent conditions, and advocacy with territorial authorities.

It is intended that a report will be produced annually as a companion document to the Regional Pest Management Plan Operational Annual Report, which is required under the Biosecurity Act 1993.

This is a non-statutory document, and financial information is provided in summary form only.
