Development setback recommendations: Coromandel beaches

Report cover image

Environment Waikato has summarised scientific evidence on beach erosion on the Coromandel, and recommended development setbacks so that district councils have more information to plan future coastal development. You can view or print the report from this page (PDF file format).

What are development setbacks

Development setbacks define how much space should be left between buildings and a shoreline to protect property against damage caused by coastal erosion or flooding. Check out our setback distances from beaches on the eastern Coromandel.
