HCC welcomed as partner to Hamilton Halo

Waikato Regional Council has welcomed Hamilton City Council as a partner in the popular Hamilton Halo project. Under a new memorandum of understanding between the two councils and Landcare Research, HCC has committed to working with the regional council on control of rats and possums at high value biodiversity sites around the city, such as parks and gullies. Hamilton City biennial bird counts: 2004-2012

The latest Hamilton biennial bird count report has been released by Landcare Research. The report highlights that the abundance of tūī in Hamilton increased significantly between 2004 and 2012 in all areas and seasons, and recommends that the current effective control of possums and ship rats by Waikato Regional Council in forest areas surrounding Hamilton should continue.
