About this report

Regional and district councils are required by the Resource Management Act to recognise and provide protection for areas of significant indigenous vegetation and significant habitats of indigenous fauna. This report identifies and prioritises significant natural areas of the karst ecosystems in the Waikato Region, using criteria developed within the framework of the Waikato Regional Policy Statement (RPS). The sites of the Waikato Region that are comprised of, or contain karst ecosystems or karst features that may be important for biodiversity, and/or for their geomorphologic significance.
