PM 10 Waihi at Grey Street

The Grey Street air quality monitoring site was disestablished at the beginning of 2012. Monitoring of PM10 in Waihi over the period 2008 to 2011 indicates that PM10 concentrations within the Waihi airshed are well below the NES 24-hour standard of 50 µg/m3 and are generally at similar levels to other towns such as Matamata and Ngaruawahia where air quality is generally good.

This disestablishment of monitoring sites where three years of monitoring has indicated no exceedances of the NES is part of an ongoing monitoring strategy to re-deploy monitoring equipment in airsheds where air quality has not yet been monitored.

Air quality monitoring reports for the period 2008 - 2011 which summarise the Waihi monitoring results over this period can be found on our air publications page(external link).
