Changes to Taupo’s bus services will come into effect next week. As of Monday August 22, the Rainbow Drive service will be extended to Wharewaka, and the frequency of this service increased to seven trips a day, Monday to Saturday. This service has had high patronage and there has been public demand for an extension to the route. The service will travel to town at 7.30 am, 9.00 am, 12.30 pm and 3.30 pm, and depart from town for Wharewaka at 11.30 am, 2.30 pm and 5.15 pm. All services apart from the 7.30 am service now travel via the hospital.

However, as of Monday August 22, the Nukuhau section of the service will stop operating as it failed to meet the required patronage levels. These routes have been reviewed in order to meet patronage targets required for funding.

Environment Waikato Transport Operations Co-ordinator Noel Burnie will be at the Taupo Living Expo this Thursday, Friday and Saturday with new timetables and more information on these changes.

Timetables will also be available from the bus and at the public library.
