Bus passengers will have the benefit of an uplifting burst of verse or two as they commute this Friday morning (27 July).

As part of the national Montana Poetry Day, poets will be giving readings of works on University route 13 services.

The services affected are the 7.40am and 8.10am departures from both the Transport Centre in Hamilton and Waikato University.

Said Environment Waikato’s land transport operations programme manager Russell Turnbull:
“While some may think it purely daft,
Poetry is in fact a wondrous craft.
In fact we are inclined to say
That our support for Poetry Day
Will brighten commuter smiles
As clever verse hastens the passage of the miles.”
