Environment Waikato has praised a Morrinsville peroxide manufacturing company for its compliance with environmental conditions.

Degussa Peroxide Limited, previously known as Du Pont Peroxide, received a clean audit from the Council for its two resource consents for air and stormwater discharges. This week’s Regulatory Committee meeting was told the company was one of the highest complying industrial sites in the Waikato Region.

Overall, only three minor non-compliances were recorded during the audit period, and one may not have been caused by the company.

Resource Officer Barry Campbell said the company should be congratulated for its efforts in complying with requirements.

Company representative Arnold Yeoman said the company believed that being open and honest was best and there were always things that could be learned to maintain and improve environmental standards.
