Morrinsville student wins Environment Waikato scholarship

Former Morrinsville College student Ben Inger has won an Environment Waikato scholarship for his university studies in resource management.

Ben was presented with the Roger Harris Scholarship, valued at $4,000, at this week's Operations Committee meeting. The scholarship is presented to students beginning study in the fields of engineering or resource management, especially in river and catchment management.

The scholarship marks the contribution of Roger Harris, the chief engineer of the then Hauraki Catchment Board between 1959 and 1983, to the development and implementation of the Waihou Valley scheme. It is open to all students whose families live in the Waihou Valley scheme rating classification area.

Ben is studying for a Bachelor of Resource Management and Environmental Planning degree at Auckland University.
