Environment Waikato’s Environmental Monitoring Team has been awarded ISO 9001 registration for its work.

The team was presented with its certification at this week’s Environment Committee meeting by Peter Wood of Telarc New Zealand. The certificate acknowledged that the team met the new standards of the registration, particularly those relating to customer focus.

Group Manager Tony Petch said the registration was a credit to staff, as some of the requirements were “pretty tough”.

“It is really important that the monitoring numbers come out right and that we can trust them.”

Chairperson Lois Livingston said the registration was a challenge to the rest of the staff to ensure more registrations were achieved. Mr Wood said historically the certification had been embraced more by private enterprise than territorial authorities, but the focus was on doing the right things the right way.
