Environment Waikato is to grant almost $5000 towards a three-day arts festival in October based around water to be held at Turangawaewae Marae.
The festival includes a riverbank planting project on the Marae grounds as part of the Kimiora Arts Festival from October 30-November 1. The aim is to encourage whanau, hapu and iwi to become more engaged in environmental and cultural issues. The festival will have events and displays that emphasise an environmental education theme around clean water and the Waikato River.
A total of eight schools will be invited, with two Enviroschools facilitators co-ordinating projects such as the riverbank planting with their students.
