Farmers to be prosecuted for effluent spills

Environment Waikato is to prosecute two Waikato farmers for discharging effluent to water.

The manager of a small Cambridge piggery, Michael Fitzgibbon, is to be prosecuted for discharging pig effluent and whey to a tributary of the Mangaone Stream from Kanui Properties Ltd, Pickering Road.

Te Awamutu farmers D C and A L Chitham are to be prosecuted for the discharge of untreated farm dairy effluent to surface water and non compliance with rules covering feedpads on their farm at Pokuru Rd, Te Awamutu.
