An extra public drop in session is to be held in Tuakau on Tuesday 5 May so that people in north Waikato have another chance to learn about a project aimed at protecting the Waikato and Waipa rivers.
It will be held at the Tuakau Memorial Hall, George St, from 7-9.30pm.
The session will look at water quality issues and their causes and how the Healthy Rivers: Plan for Change/Wai Ora: He Rautaki Whakapaipai plan change process is looking at how to protect the waterways.
A Collaborative Stakeholder Group (CSG), made up of regional representatives, will eventually recommend a plan change designed to manage contaminants getting into water bodies to Waikato Regional Council.
Specific topics to be covered at the drop in session include:
People will be able to give their views on how the CSG plans to divide the Waikato and Waipa catchments into areas to better manage water quality, and how it will determine how healthy or unhealthy a water body is.
For those who can’t make it there is also an opportunity to do an online survey by tomorrow. The survey takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete. It is available at: www.surveymonkey.com/s/healthyriversonlinesurvey1
