Environment Waikato’s Taupo office will celebrate the tenth anniversary of its opening next month.

The office first opened its doors in August 2000 (although the office’s "official" opening wasn’t till April 2001).

EW’s Taupo office manager Vince Udy said the council was committed to serving the Taupo community well.

"We had four people in the office when it started. Now 11 staff, providing a range of services to the town and surrounding communities, are based there."

The office provides standard services such as providing a place to pay rates or pick up forms.

Staff are also able to help with queries about such new innovations as nitrogen benchmarking under the Variation 5 policy to protect Lake Taupo and what assistance EW can provide to help people protect and enhance the natural environment.

"EW’s Taupo staff are here to help," said Vince Udy "We warmly welcome any inquiries for assistance or advice on matters related to EW and its responsibilities."

The Taupo office can be contacted at 07 378 6539 or 0800 800 401 and is situated on the cnr of Titiraupenga and Paora Hapi Streets, Taupo.
