Environment Waikato has made Environmental Initiative Fund grants to three Waikato schools.

St Patrick’s School at Acacia Bay, Taupo has received $3000 for an environmental education bush walk which would take students through several habitats representative of New Zealand. The project is part of the school’s larger Enviroschool efforts.

Woodstock School in Hamilton has received $3000 towards a plant nursery area, cleanup and tree pruning and creating an outside learning area. The school is a new Enviroschool which has been very active, sending 90 students to Environment Waikato’s Environmental Education Expo earlier this year.

Opoutere School has received $3000 towards its plans to re-create a native bush patch that has been destroyed by stock, setting up a native plant nursery to supply local landowners who are beginning a new Harbourcare and Landcare initiative.
