Council lays charges against Waihi business

Environment Waikato yesterday laid charges against a Waihi-based company and three individuals connected to the company.

The charges arose from a number of complaints from Waihi businesses and residents about the discharge of objectionable odour from the company, and relate to five separate incidents since November 2005.

The name of the company cannot be released at this stage because the matter is before the courts and is therefore sub judice.

A hearing is scheduled for 2 May in the Waihi District Court.
